Not many of you know this, but im a Colour Therapist and quite a few people ask me about there colour choices for there work or even everyday life.
So heres some basic knowledge of colour and what it reflects in your lifes.
Black - Both comforting, protective and mysterious. It is associated with silence, the infinite, restriction and the feminine life force – passive, uncharted and the mysterious. It can prevent us from growing and changing. We often cloak ourselves in black to hide from the world.
Blue -
Deep blue stimulates the pituitary gland to help regulate sleep patterns. It also has pain relief properties and works on the skeleton, keeping the bone marrow healthy. Light and soft blues make us feel quiet and protected and is used to help alleviate insomnia. Blue inspires ate mental control, clarity and creativity. Midnight blue has a strong sedative affect on the mind allowing us to connect to our intuitive and feminine side. Too much dark blue can be make us feel depressed.
Brown -
Brown brings a sense of stability, alleviating insecurity. It relates to bottling up emotions, a retreat from and fear of the outside world, and also narrow-mindedness. This often results from a lack of self worth. It is involved with long-term study or logical thought processes. Encourages new routines.
Green -
It has a strong affirmation with nature helping us connect with empathy to others and the natural world. We instinctively use this colour when under stress or experiencing emotional trauma. It gives us the sense of calmness, comfort, laziness, relaxation, space, lessening stress, balance and soothing to emotions, freedom, contentment, sharing and generosity. Dark green helps us with emotional uncertainty. Though when green becomes muddy, dull, olive looking it indicates decay. Muddy green resembles unassertive, a negation of life and joy. Lime and olive green can have a detrimental effect on both physical and emotional health, as sickly yellow and green are associated with the emotions of envy, resentment and possessiveness.
Indigo -
Same as violet. Dramatic, spiritual, creativity, intuitive, meditative, mystical, inspirational of beauty and art, protective, cleansing.
Orange -
This is a happy joyous colour. It releases emotions and alleviates feelings or self-pity, lack of self worth and unwillingness to forgive. It stimulates the mind renewing interest in life and it is an antidepressant. Apricot / peach colours are good for nervous exhaustion. Other associations are – secure, warmth, creative, stimulating, fun, enlivening, uplifting, laughter, independence.
Red -
Gives vitality, ambition, helps to over come negative thoughts. Too much red in the system can make you irritable, impatient, angry and uncomfortable. Other properties: powerful, cosy, sensual, determined, friendly, courageous, assertive and antidepressant.
Silver / Grey -
Independent, self reliant, separating, lonely, self-critical.
Turquiose - Associated with blue-green with the refreshing and cool ocean. It is invigorating, cooling, and calming. Like green, turquoise is good for mental strain and tiredness or feeling washed out. It is an elevating colour that encourages us to make a sparking fresh start. Turquoise is also helpful for feelings of loneliness, since it heightens communication, sensitivity and creativity.
Violet -
Violet brings peace and combating shock and fear. Also cleanses the emotions, obsessions and fear. Has been known to help calm and pacify patients suffering from a number of nervous and mental disorders. It is connected with artistic and musical impulses, mystery, and sensitivity to beauty and high ideals, stimulating creativity, inspiration, sensitivity, spirituality and compassion. It is also known for protection.
White -
Peaceful, purifying, cold, isolating, creating space to think.
Yellow - A happy, bright and uplifting colour. It is associated with the intellect side of the mind and the expression of thoughts. It therefore helps the powers of discernment and discrimination, memory and clear thinking, decision-making and good judgement. It also helps good organisation, assimilation of good ideas, and the ability to see different points of view. It builds self-confidence and encourages a optimistic attitude. Though dull yellow can be the colour of fear.

Funny how I have been feeling tired lately and finding myself drawn to turquoise and Orange! Just shows my body knows what it needs ;)

My room is the blue room, while kitchen and living-room are mostly red and green (bright and deep, not yellowy, not muddy)...
